Dear Customers and friends,

The Ontario Power Authority (OPA) has just announced positive news for participants in the MicroFIT program. The OPA has decided to pay the originally-promised tariff of 80.2 cents per kilowatt-hour for people with ground-mounted solar MicroFIT applications placed before July 2 at noon.  Applications made after July 2 will now received 64.2 cents per kilowatt-hour for ground-mounted systems; roof-mounted applications will remain at 80.2 cents. They are also permitting 40% Ontario content until May 31, 2011 for applications made before July 2.

We applaud the OPA’s announcement, as it is an essential step in restoring industry and public confidence in this ground-breaking, forward-thinking Ontario program. We are very pleased that the OPA listened and reacted positively to the concerns expressed during the consultation period. We feel encouraged that the voices of our customers and the industry were heard and clearly taken into account in reaching this decision. Now that the uncertainty in the marketplace has been resolved, we will continue to press forward in building this market for the benefit of all.

  • Please ensure that you have resubmitted your MicroFIT application, checking off “Ground Mount” or “Roof Mount” as applicable. As a reminder, the deadline      to do so is September 7, otherwise you will be treated as a new applicant.
  • If you intend to move forward, please contact your iSolara sales representative, Robb Wilkin  613-297-7218 to review your financial analysis based on these rates.
